Losing fluids through vomiting or diarrhea
When you’re dehydrated, urine becomes more concentrated and typically appears darker.
If dehydration is the likely explanation, drinking fluids can help your urine gradually return to a lighter shade.
But if dark urine persists despite adequate fluid intake, don’t automatically assume it’s dehydration.
Orange Urine
Orange urine can definitely get your attention.
And there are several possible explanations.
Certain medications can turn urine orange, while some vitamins and dietary factors can also alter its appearance. Dehydration can make urine look orange as well.
But orange urine can occasionally be associated with a liver or bile-duct problem.
This becomes more important if the color change occurs along with yellowing of the skin or eyes or unusually pale stools.
When to pay closer attention
If you can’t explain persistent orange urine through something you’ve eaten, a supplement, medication, or dehydration, contact a healthcare professional.
